You know what? I didn't believe I'd had the chance to see it.... a tv-show that isn't afraid of giving love (and a relationship) a try.
When you have the whole story of your series centered on the UST between your main characters, when the fans love so much it, when they work so well together, when you can actually *see* the sparks flying around them... well, the writers usually are FUCKING scared of ruining it by solving that sexual tension. So, they transform that show in a parody of real life... where those two characters keep on going around each other, googling each other, sharing some kisses here and then but NEVER actually getting together. We've seen plenty of it with SG1 (Sam and Jack anyone???) or JAG (Harm and Mac???) and I could go on and on. But, sometimes you find some authors who got BIG balls. Or guts, whatever you call them. And they take that chance, they show you how much they love their characters by making them REAL.
The first time I watched House MD, I thought "what a idiotic show, totally unbelievable". 'Cause I worked in a hospital and I knew how House's behaviour was absolutely impossible to have if you didn't want to get fired your first day of work.
But I was wrong. Or, no, I still think that his behaviour is not believable for the politics of a hospital but everything else??? TOTALLY REALISTIC. From the relationship between the characters, to the characters themselves to this new development of the story. I'm truly THRILLED by it.
I love it. I'm REALLY FRELLING LOVING IT.
By mistake I watched an interview with Hugh Laurie.... I found out he wrote a book years ago, The Gun Seller
, even before House started. I found him so much interesting as a person in that interview (he has that sad and sweet and shy and at the same time intelligent and curious and ironic way...). Today I was waiting for a friend to come to the train station and went to the bookstore... I was unsure if buying it in english or in italian, actually. I thought that the italian version maybe could miss something about Hugh Laurie's style and at the same time I was afraid of not getting everything about the book in its original version... then the clerk solved the problem. They didn't have it in italian. I love it when they take off your shoulders an impossible decision! :P
I finished the first chapter and... WOW! Very good indeed! It's snarky and fun and interesting! Can't wait to read more tomorrow! :))
